The Situation
Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) had initiated and begun a programme to develop a major new hospital to replace three existing hospitals. As the programme of development continued they decided that it could be further supported by employing a hospital development company that specialises in clinical and operational readiness processes.
The Task
Following a successful tender process Newpark Healthcare was tasked with establishing the current state of readiness of the preparations. This was followed by developing a unique and viable Operational Brief which would show how the hospital could ultimately be made to function. This in turn was followed by developing a multi-dimentional Commissioning Control Plan which was in turn executed to direct the safe opening of the hospital. This process of commissioning is currently ongoing.
The Actions
A combined and blended team of Newpark Healthcare CHI was marshalled to undertake the commissioning task. Newpark’s knowledge, experience and expertise allowed the team to integrate and to successfully develop and implement the programme.
The Result
The programme is currently underway and developing smoothly. All plans are nearing completion and it is expected that the final phase of operational commissioning will get underway in tandem with the substantial completion of the building.
