The Situation
Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) has embarked on a program to establish a significant new hospital intended to replace three current hospitals. As the development program progressed, they recognised the value of engaging a hospital development company that specialises in clinical and operational readiness processes.
The Task
Following a successful tender process, Newpark Healthcare was tasked with establishing the current state of readiness of the preparations. Following this step, a unique and viable Operational Brief was created demonstrating how the hospital could ultimately be 'made to function.' This in turn was followed by developing a multi-dimentional Commissioning Control Plan which was subsequently implemented to direct the safe opening of the hospital. This process of commissioning is currently ongoing.
The Actions
A combined and blended team of Newpark Healthcare CHI was assembled to undertake the commissioning task. Newpark’s knowledge, experience and expertise has allowed the team to integrate and to successfully develop and implement the programme.
The Result
The program is currently in progress, with the final phase of operational commissioning set to begin as the building nears substantial completion.
