King Hamad University Hospital (KHUH) is one of Bahrain’s flagship tertiary teaching hospitals — a 500bed, 227,000 m² facility serving as a national centre for acute, specialist, and academic care. The hospital includes 12 operating theatres, a full diagnostic suite, advanced critical care capacity, and integrated teaching and research facilities.
Newpark delivered the full lifecycle of the hospital, from operational brief and clinical service planning through to technical commissioning, equipment integration, workforce mobilisation, and opening. At appointment, “the building design was largely complete, but the clinical and operational model had not been defined.” Newpark acted as the clinically informed client, aligning clinical pathways, digital systems, equipment ecosystems, and academic requirements into a single coherent operating model.
The hospital opened on time and on budget, with local teams fully capable within three months — demonstrating Newpark’s ability to deliver complex tertiary hospitals from concept to safe operation.
